Trumpeter Cecil Bridgewater is a player of such marvelous clarity, one would think his horn had been crafted by Steuben Glass.

Virtuoso trumpeter and prolific composer Cecil Bridgewater presents I Love Your Smile, his debut collection for Max Roach Productions/Bluemoon Recordings.

A player who realizes the lineage of the trumpet and has an appreciation for its place in contemporary music, Cecil explores his artistic depth on I Love Your Smile. Highlights from this richly textured collection include a special dedication from Cecil to Magic Johnson in "Magic," along with a duet with Sir Roland Hanna on Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady," plus collaborations with his brother, Ron Bridgewater.

"I've had opportunities to work with some of the greatest trumpet players," Max Roach says, "from Roy Eldridge, Charlie Shavers, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, "Fats" Navarro, Kenny Dorham, Booker Little and Clifford Brown. I've appreciated Cecil, like the others, for his distinctiveness and strong identity." I Love Your Smile is the incarnate of these Bridgewater qualities.
