This composition is like three pieces in
one. The introduction makes use of flutes, muted brass in a slow introspective
mood. The interlude introduces a medium tempo bossa nova section leading to the
melody. The saxophone ensemble is in double time which leads to the solo section for
tenor and trumpet. The piece returns to the slow introspective character of the opening
before ending. Recorded by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra on the CD "New
Life," A&M Records
